Do I need my own photos for my website?
Restaurants, practices and studios need their own photos; law firms can often manage with portraits and their own rooms. Visitors decide by the real plate, the real reception, the real person. Passing off stock photos as your own team misleads them. A site can also work with no photos at all, using type and drawn images, as two Tripscha Digital websites show. As of October 2026.
What the photos need to show depends on the industry.
The real plate and your own premises. Guests decide by the plate.
Rights cleared for each image. Photos taken by guests belong to the guests.
The real reception and the rooms patients actually come into.
Staff only with written consent.
Studios, clubs and beauty businesses
The person who trains, tattoos or treats, and their work.
Photos of people only with consent; for tattoos, approval of each piece.
Portraits and your own rooms are often enough. Without photos, the typography carries the site.
Portraits only with the consent of the people shown.
Who owns the photos is settled before launch.
Not legal advice
Copyright lies with the person who took the photo. For your website, you need the right to show the image there.
Anyone who can be recognised in a photo has to agree; for employees, in writing.
Stock photos show other people and other rooms. Passed off as your own team or your own practice, they mislead visitors.
That is why Tripscha Digital checks for every image where it comes from and who may show it.
How the photos are made, and what works without them.
If there are no photos, we arrange them with you and clear the rights for each image.
That takes time. If photos are still missing at signature, the launch moves back by one week.
A site can do without photos entirely if type and drawings tell the story of the business. Two websites from our portfolio show how.
Website of a tax firm, Freiburg.
Typography and calculated deadlines carry the site, without a single photo.
Website of a tattoo studio, Stuttgart.
The images are drawn, not photographed.
Whether photography is in the fixed price is stated in the quote.
Photography is an extra. Whether you need it, you will see at the prototype.
It shows your site with the material that already exists and marks where a photo is missing.
The written fixed price then states whether photography is included and which shots.
What a site without a single photo looks like: one of our websites.
At this tattoo studio, every image is drawn, not photographed. That creates material of its own while there are no photos yet.

RabenstichOpen site
Every design drawn, plus studio tools as cut-outs instead of studio photos. A price estimator, a body map and healing day by day.
Lettering
One line that states the style. The cursor widens the letters: type as a toy.
Design
The mandala is drawn, not photographed: original material where no photos exist yet.
Status
Next to the button: whether the studio is open right now and how many days until the next Flash Friday.
